Academic background in AI predates the current wave — postgraduate research on probabilistic-grammar text extrapolation, a precursor to modern language model architecture. Earlier career built and led automotive, embedded, Android/AOSP, and medical-device platforms for Ford, Toyota, and Hyundai, including founding and running two companies — one acquired, one scaled to 100+ people with its own manufacturing facility.
